Deleting and Restoring a Task

Table 98. Availability

All users (except for collaborators) on all account types can delete tasks.

Delete a task

  1. Open a task you want to delete in Task view.

  2. Click the three-dot menu button in the upper-right hand corner of the view.

  3. Select Delete.

The task is placed into Recycle bin. Also, you can right-click a task from List view and select Delete.

When a task with subtasks is deleted and:

  • the subtask is tagged in an additional task, or in a folder, project, or space, then the subtask continues to live in the additional tasks, folders, and projects that it's tagged in. In this case, the subtask won't include any information indicating that its parent task (or one of its parent tasks) was deleted.

  • the subtask is included only in that task (the parent task), then the subtask is deleted when the parent task is deleted.

To delete multiple tasks at the same time:

  1. Navigate to the folder, project, or space where tasks are located.

  2. Switch to List view.

  3. Click the Mass Action icon on the panel above the task list.

  4. Check the boxes next to tasks you want to delete.

  5. Select Delete from the panel that appears to the right.

Restore a deleted task

Data in the Recycle bin can be accessed and restored by anyone who shared it before deletion.

  1. Go to Home.

  2. Click Recycle bin.

  3. Locate the task in the left-hand navigation panel. If the list is too big, type the name of the task in the search bar at the top of your workspace. Check the box next to Recycle bin only to see relevant results.

  4. Right-click a task in the list and select Restore. Alternatively, open the task in Task view and click Restore.

You can restore multiple tasks at once by clicking the Mass Actions icon, checking the boxes to the left of the tasks that you want to restore, and then clicking Restore in the panel that appears.

Can I delete a task permanently?

Yes, Wrike admins can permanently delete tasks from the Recycle bin. To do so they have to open a task from Recycle bin in Task view and click Erase. You can delete multiple tasks at once by clicking the Mass Actions icon and checking the boxes to the left of the tasks that you want to delete and then clicking Erase in the panel that appears.
